Ticket to Ride - Train Game App Reviews

They want you to upgrade from your previously purchased Ticket 2 Ride on the guise that you will get a FREE Pennsylvania and pay $2.99 for the upgrade. Not only do you NOT get the Pennsylvania free (they want $4.99 for it) but all my other apps Switzerland and Europe which I owned they now want me to pay Again for these apps. Buyer beware Days of Wonder is ripping you off if you already own the apps and you will not get Pennsylvania free as they say.

Used to love to play ticket to ride with my family locally on our home network. It used to work great, but for the last few weeks, its been broken so they cant join games locally.

Since Ticket to Ride Pocket is being discontinued. Days of Wonder is making users pay for the app again.

While I cant address the issue of losing previously purchased maps (I didnt have any), Id like to clarify a couple misconceptions from previous reviewers. First, the upgrade price is $2.99 as opposed to the regular $4.99. Admittedly, this is confusing because the migration tool throws you into the TTR store where it is $4.99. However, clicking on upgrade takes you to the App Store where its $2.99. Secondly, Pennsylvania IS included for free. After the upgrade, when you begin a new game, open the USA map wheel and its right there, unlocked. Still a five star game minus one star for confusion and lost add-ons.

I know its tough to read and follow directions but I was able go through the migration process in the old app which told me to log into this app with my Days if Wonder account. Then I had all the levels Id previously purchased available.

They couldnt have made it easier to understand the migration. $3 for a better game and free DLC. I followed the instructions and it migrated all my purchases and have more Pennsylvania for free. Im guessing the other reviews didnt read the migration. Flawless game and a great intro price for new players. Come fresh meat!

As many years as this game has been online and they still dont have any black avatars?

I am a game designer and love the TtR franchise. Ive owned and played the board games since published and have enjoyed the iPad app for several years. If you already own this app I recommend you do NOT update (I am not referring to upgrading from pocket as I dont know of that experience). Upon update, I lost all my game settings. Not a big deal but frustrating and sloppy development. The new design is a detriment to the game. The new UI is a shining example of poor usability design and is way over done. All the marketing I have seen thus far clearly suggests that an update will provide you with a free map, Pennsylvania. It does not (it remains locked without a new purchase). What you get is the opportunity to buy Pennsylvania for $4.99 and get the bonus terrible design update. I rarely write reviews but if I can save even one person who enjoys this app from making the mistake I did then it has been worth the effort. This review is pertinent to this current sept 1 update only. I shall once again put up the wish that users who purchase an app get the ability to revert to a previous version. Until that happens, I doubt Ill be playing this app any more.

Was a little leery about purchasing due to reported issues with migration from pocket. However, I didnt encounter any problems. Pennsylvania map was available upon opening.

This is the first review Ive ever left, but felt compelled to leave one due to so many negative reviews. I absolutely love this app, and havent had any of the negative issues others have experienced. The multiplayer almost always works well for me, and I love the fact theyve been rolling out new maps on a more regular basis. 5 bucks for Pennsylvania is a great deal, because its like having an entirely new game due to the stock shares. If youre a fan of the board game, youll love the app. Its user friendly, rarely crashes, and they now have a pretty deep collection of extra maps that add tons of replayability. Now just want to see UK on the app!

Although the migration process was a bit tricky (I had to sign in twice to get my maps to transfer), the new PA map and the updated app works perfectly! Days of Wonder has not only done a great job designing the app, but have also done a great job answering my questions relating to the migration from TtR Pocket. Cant wait to see if other maps are in the pipeline!

I enjoy the game and have previously purchased all the available maps. I happily spent the $3 for an upgrade and new map. So glad I didnt delete the pocket version though as this one runs painfully slow and Ive reverted back to the previous version. I didnt get Pennsylvania either and lost Asia and India. Save your pennies and ignore the migration.

The only reason I didnt give this a 5 is they need to add tutorials for the new maps with new rules. PA has new cards and I dont have the board game so Ive been struggling to figure out the strategy of it. Aside from this, Ive been playing online since I had to enter codes from the board games to get play time. I was excited to see a few years ago when they integrated the user logins from their web page to the app. The people who havent been getting the maps transferred maybe havent logged into TTRs servers. I had no trouble migrating to the new app and my maps transferred as well. Alan Moons game is fantastic and I am always happy to play these games whether alone or in a group. Thank You!

Love the board game. The app is terrible. Constant server errors while having a strong internet connection. Rare occasions when it doesnt boot me, another player is booted and it becomes a waiting game.

I have loved this game for a long time but I have disliked it since one of the last updates when the robots became super human. The programmers seem to have put them on steroids because they have the uncanny ability to throw down 18 trains in three turns at the end of the game. They also seem to have knowledge and ability to sabotage that a human player would not. Dial it down Days of Wonder!

Done button isnt pressable on iPad mini 2. Please fix. I cant play the game at all

I was hoping there would be a statistics feature in this app, as the possibilities are endless. The gameplay is great. No problems with the basic package.

TTR pocket promised that previous purchases of the full-version would transfer over, and that I would receive the Pennsylvania map as well, and it is requiring me to buy that. Between all of the thing that did not transfer right or were promised, I would have to spend another several more dollars (in addition to the price of the ap that I already spent) to get everything I should have.
